NSW First Choice for Property Investment and Tassie Last
An online survey by Your Investment Property magazine has found that 27 per cent of respondents were most likely to invest in NSW in the next six to 12 months, while less than 1 per cent favoured investing in Tasmania. NSW was closely followed by Queensland, where 24 per cent of respondents said they wanted to invest and Victoria and WA each received a respective 10 per cent of votes. The Deputy Editor of Your Investment Property, Aidan Devine, said the lack of interest in Tasmania reflected the state’s continuing struggles to attract investors, amid a weakening employment sector and negative population growth. He pointed out that Tasmanian property still remains affordable and offers some great opportunities for property investment within select markets, but because of the state’s economic troubles, there is a lot of hesitancy about investing there. The Apple Isle scored a lower rate of investor interest than those who said they would buy property overseas.
