Taste of Western Australia at Elizabeth Quay
Perth’s love affair with food is set to continue as the State Government’s vision for a new precinct of restaurants, bars and cafes at Elizabeth Quay takes shape.
Planning Minister John Day said three well-established local businesses had been selected as the preferred proponents for three of the five venues around the Quay, marking another step in the transformation of Elizabeth Quay into a premier waterfront destination for Perth to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.
“Each of these operators will bring the flourishing food tourism industry to Perth’s waterfront, appealing to workers and tourists while also providing casual and take-away food options for families visiting the city,”
“They will provide opportunities for parents to grab a take-away coffee or lunch while their children enjoy the play facilities, for corporate travellers and city workers to enjoy a mid-week lunch or dinner with clients and for families and friends to socialise on the weekend.”
Replicating their beachside success in Sorrento, the operators of Voyage Kitchen café will bring casual dining to the Florence Hummerston Kiosk located on The Island, while the experienced team at V Burger Bar in Floreat and Victoria Park will develop their flagship store at Elizabeth Quay adjacent to BHP Billiton Water Park.
“Located next to the playground and BHP Billiton Water Park, our priority was to select family-friendly offerings for these two locations and I’m pleased that both operators fit this brief.”
“On the Eastern Promenade, the venue is designed to capitalise on the waterfront dining experience making it a prime location to cater for corporate groups, international visitors or inner-city residents looking for a contemporary lunch venue or something special on a night out.”
The Minister congratulated the operators of Stables Bar in Perth CBD on their vision to transform the two-storey Eastern Promenade outlet into a new restaurant and bar, offering tapas and drinks on the rooftop or premier seafood dining on the first floor.
A new ice-cream kiosk is also being planned for the Eastern Promenade which features state-of-the-art design, creating a spectacular focal point for Elizabeth Quay.
“These businesses are the first in a myriad of food and beverage offerings, which are set to transform Elizabeth Quay into an exciting new dining and entertainment precinct, providing thousands of job opportunities for West Australians in the food and beverage, hotel and service industries and playing host to an exciting calendar of events.”
Expressions of interest are being sought for an experienced ice-cream or gelato operator for the new Eastern Promenade kiosk.
